I started getting slammed by a few friends for not replying to texts. Three specifically said I snubbed them. After getting a new SIM Card, even replacing my Blackberry 8800 (it had some other issues) I still wasn't getting texts from these friends. But I WAS getting texts from others, and my texts WERE getting out to them.

Any thoughts?

I need a recommendation for a new cell phone--there's too many out there! About 15 months ago (based on a rave review by PCMAG) I bought a T-Mobile SDA. It started falling apart a week after I bought it (T-Mobile graciously offered to have it fixed--at my expense), but super glue has helped it limp along until last week, when it definitively died. Unfortunately, I'm still hostage to 7 more months on my 2-year contract with T-Mobile, and need a new phone!

I recently read a review that the iPhone does everything great--except make calls. I need a very solid phone that (1) is great and simple at making calls, (2) syncs with MS Outlook contacts and calendar. That's it. I don't care about texting, surfing, making toast, etc. If it's one that I can use through the remaining months of my T-Mobile contract, then be free to change providers, so much the better. Reliability and durability are more important to me than style.

After receiving my statement in March and becoming aware of my daughters text usage and additional charges, I added text messaging to her phone. I called custom service to add unlimited text service to her phone. After making this change to our plan, I informed my daughter that she was free to text without limit.

I received my May statement today and was in shock to see the charges associated with text usage. Between sending/receiving my daughter had accumulated approximately 4,000 texts which inflated our monthly bill from approximately $100 to $700. Apparently they had added a limited text plan to my account.

I called customer service last night and was informed that there was nothing that could be done to reverse these charges. Any suggestions on how to deal with customer service or legal action.

T-Mobile has two policies regarding purchasing prepaid minutes on its web site that I think are extremely unfair and potentially harmful to its users.

1. When purchasing minutes on its web site using a credit or debit card, T-Mobile will freeze the needed funds in your account before it decides whether to actually give you the minutes. If you are using a card for this transaction that you have never used before, T-Mobile will not credit the minutes to you unless they verify the card with you and the issuer of the card. (More about that later.) If they can't reach you within a few hours, they simply cancel the order. You don't get the minutes, but you don't get your money back either. Your funds remain frozen until the hold drops off in five days or so.

If T-Mobile wants to question the purchase, isn't the time to do that BEFORE they have frozen your funds, not AFTER?

2. T-Mobile's method of verifying that you own the card in question is to hold a conference call with you and the issuer of your card. In my case that is CitiBank. With me on the line, the T-Mobile representative contacted the CitiBank and expected me to disclose to Citibank (or whoever they called) the security codes that would prove that I owned the account.

I don't know about you, but I am not going to give away the access codes to my bank account to two total strangers. What would possess me to be so stupid? That is nothing more than a gold-plated invitation to identity theft.

T-Mobile imposed both these policies on me despite the fact that the name and address of the card I was attempting to use was identical to the name and address on my T-Mobile account. Go figure.

I'd like to get our first cell phone using T-Mobile's prepay plan. We live in the woods in a fringe area (neighbors have tried other carriers and found T-Mobile is best here). Which phone would give the most solid reception with a weak signal? I don't care about having a camera or anything. I was thinking of the Motorola V195 since I've read a couple reviews that sound good. But the local dealer says that phone has the worst reception of all. Of course, he didn't have that one in the store so I take that with a grain of salt. He said Samsung's have the best then Nokia. Anyway, any others that have used the V195 in fringe reception areas or compared others? Thanks!

Also, I was charged 84 cents sales tax. When purchased at a T-Mobile store or even at a newsstand, I am never charged sales tax. Is that legal? Anyway, the card wasn't activated until I made 5 calls to customer service and then it took over 8 hours and lots of aggravation. I waited from 9 AM to after 5PM for activation.

I have the HTC Dash and I absolutely HATE it!!!! I have had nothing but problems with this phone since about six months after my purchase, which was $250.00. My phone has never been abused and does not even have any signs of wear and use on it. However, when I called to tell TMobile of my problems they would only replace my phone with the EXACT same phone, but not even a new one, a REFURBISHED one!!!! I even offered to pay additionally out of my pocket to potentially down grade after I have already spent the $250.00, but they wouldn't even take my money and agree to that? Why the hell would I want another piece of junk and a refurbished one at that?

I have been looking elsewhere to replace my phone and I have seen the "unlocked" phones that will work with TMobile, but I don't know if it will be MyFave 5 "compatible" I got some long drawn out story from the jerk working in the customer service department about how it had to be a MyFav 5 phone in order for me to "upgrade" and since I dont' have internet on my phone (smart access plan) I couldn't use the sidekick because I would have to pay for the data plan which is not available to me in order for the phone to even work???? All I want is a full QWERTY keyboard and a planner/calendar in my phone, otherwise I could care less what options I have.

So, do any of you extremely smart individuals that know all of this phone business know if I can purchase just any unlocked phone with a full qwerty keyboard (mostly smart phones and pda's) and use it with my plan or do I have to purchase some phone that is compatible with my plan? Please help me I am in a huge hurry to get rid of this piece of junk!!
