Hi,
I currently have Virgin Mobile as my carrier w/Shuttle as my phone. Its a nice little phone and very durable,but not good for texting.
I hardly use the phone maybe 10mins or so a month,and I text more often than not. I currently have to pay 20bucks a month to keep phone number/account active I think.
I know this is wishfull thinking,but is there a provider that I don't need to keep adding payments every month to keep number active? Something where I can keep money on account to pay for texting,but not having too keep adding and only have to add money when I actually need it(I probably could go a few months on 20bucks for texting + whatever limited calling I do).
Next is reception is this mainly based on quality of phone or the provider or both? My Shuttle/Virgin Mobile is okay,but it does drop bars depending.
Basicly is a better provider than Virgin mobile and what is a good phone to get prefer pay as u go..I did look around but they all almost seem the same to me..thnks for any imput.

Ok I have Cincinnati Bell. I wanted to get a SideKick it has the same GSM Info as my phone I have now does and I also have a SIM card. How would I program the SideKick to work with my service provider?

I have some friends coming to Canada for a 3-4 week stay.
I'm lending them my GSM Nokia and charger, for the trip.
The SIM is long dead, as we were last there in 2005.

SMS back to Australia is likely the larger use requirement.
Who would you suggest they buy a SIM from? Rogers?
How much usage is pre-loaded onto their SIMs?

Also, in 2005, we had one helluva job finding out the correct
syntax for international SMS. We were using Rogers and it
turned out to be +11[country code][cellular network prefix]
[cell phone number] but the plus sign had to be keyed!

Anyone know if it’s still the same?

Wasn't sure where to put this, but I've now heard of three cell phone companies that are offering unlimited texting and calling for under or around $50.

Today I heard of a company called Cricket which has an unlimited talk and text plan, contract free, plan for $30 a month! What is the downside to that?? How is the coverage in NJ? NJ is one of the most heavily populated states so I would assume that there would be decent coverage?

Next is Metro PCS which offers a similar plan. A coworker of mine was considering the switch. He also said that you can get your current phone (from another carrier) flashed to work on their service. Sweet!

Last I heard of was Boost unlimited. This plan is $20 more but seems to do the same exact thing as the first two. Possibly with the addition of unlimited web access? Not sure. Though Boost is iDen whereas I believe the first two are CDMA. Correct me if I'm wrong. Do any of the 3 offer free roaming? Because if it's CDMA with free roaming, we could get Verizon/Sprint service at half the price .

If not, I'm probably just going to get a Blackberry on Verizon. Though I'm toying with these great deals! I want unlimited data, unlimited pics/flix messaging, and unlimited talk and text. On Verizon I have paid an arm and leg for all this. If I can get my Blackberry Tour running (unlimited!) for half the price of Verizon, that's one heck of a deal! :D:D

right now im at 450 minutes + unlimited texting with att and after the taxes and everything i pay like 70 a month and all i use is the texting

i want a smartphone that can just go on the web (ie unlimited data plan) and also have unlimited texting, i use skype to make calls to phone numbers

so can someone point me in the right direction?

being in college, and living off 200 a month, while 70 goes to my phone and another 10 for a game i play...it sucks

A new mobile payment service will soon be available with Rogers, Bell and Telus, Canada’s largest mobile carriers.

The new service called, Zoompass, will be managed by a company in Toronto called, EnStream. Zoompas will be available on June 15 for the following carriers: Rogers, Fido, Telus, Solo Mobile, Bell and PC Mobile.

On your mobile device, this new service will allow you to receive and request monies as well as send all through your mobile phone.

A couple stipulations include: registering on Zoompass website, which is not active as of yet, with your credit card info. Once a transfer is completed, you will receive a confirmation receipt by SMS.

Any withdraws will cost you a fee of $.50, but the Zoompass registration and site are free.
