Hi,
I was possibly looking for a new phone provider in near future. I was potentially looking to buy a Ipod Touch, but I thought I do need a better phone. My restrictions are that I want to stick with a pay as u go type plan and not looking for a contract..I was wondering what phones are very good with music, ringtones, video, pics that are decent and reasonably priced...
Most of the prepaid phones I've looked at aren't that great and are usually prepackaged types. I currently have Virgin Mobile X-tc and I know they just recently came out with a new phone(rumor2?)..Seems most pay/go plans are very similar in prices so Im not too worried about changing.....
If anyone knows which provider is better for the Midwest..Im in St.louis area and though Virgin Mobile is okay my phone just doesn't get the signal inside my work whereas my friends who have(att/verizon)can get it no problem.

Just got out of a previous nightmareprovider, then signed up for at&t (since a freind works at a local store) , one active phone with 2year contract (they don't do 1year) , and one existing phone not on contract.

My daughter also used some webfeatures which costed extra $ ... However since I am a brandnew customer, isn't it possible to get some part of this astronomical bill waived (aka as courtesy write off )??

This leaves me desperate and I understand now why most of the people go for prepaid !!
I don't know how to proceed in order to get help !!

As my kids are tempted to stay inside rather than playing and exercising outdoors, I use parental control software and the problem is resolved. My kid has no reason to complain, because we all agreed on how much time he would have on the computer each night. I don't have to watch the clock, and my son is learning a little something about time management. Kidsemail.org allows me to set different time limits such as hours of the day, daily duration. It can also block Internet browsers, e-mails, messengers and keep them blocked for as long as you schedule it. I can easily add/remove time on any particular day with just a couple clicks. You can try it..

Part of that research is putting a small application on participant's phones that tracks their usage for a period of time (say 60 days): Number and length of calls; Web pages that are surfed, Amount of email sent and received; Number of texts sent; etc.

If you were asked, would you be willing to load a listener onto your phone for a period of time? What if you got a gift card for your time/trouble? Say, $50 or $100...

Thanks for your input.

Hey everyone!

I've been following a company called Eclipse Mobile (the new website with the new plan isn't finished yet) for a few months now. When they first came out, I wasn't so sure about them. The plans weren't that good, so I figured they'd fail, if they didn't improve.

Well, they improved! Just recently I've read a lot about a new plan they're coming out with. I've read so much, and asked so many questions, that I think I know the product very well now. That is also why I put "expert" in my username. (I spent hours researching it, so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about. :D)

Anyway, they're offering unlimited talk, text, and web on Sprint's native network. It doesn't include roaming, which is a setback, but for those in the Sprint coverage area, it is a good deal. I am hearing that other features will be added in the near future, but I don't have an exact list and timeframe. I think I heard navigation will be included at launch. That's a good bonus.

Well, like I said in the title, the price is going to be about $40/month.

I'm planning on getting this plan when they launch, and I'll probably post a review here when I do. I'll be the guinea pig, I guess. :p

I've been very excited about this. I've actually enjoyed how all of the companies have been changing their prices recently. We've gone from $100 unlimited talk to $50 unlimited everything to $40 unlimited everything! This is exciting! (I am just waiting for free phone service next..)

So, what do you guys think? I'll try my best to answer any questions you have. I should know the answer, after this much research! :D

There is a dead thread on the Fido forum from 2006 regarding GSM finally coming to Whitehorse, allowing "outsiders" to roam in the Great White North.

Well it's now the end of 2009, and still all we have is CDMA, never mind roaming access, us locals want GSM too!

Unfortunately, we are still imprisonned by this Bell monopoly who only just a few years ago replaced the analog network for a digital one. Why oh why didn't they choose GSM over CDMA when already everyone else on the planet was converting, only cheapness can explain I guess.

I've heard through the grapevine that Virgin and a couple of other providers will show up in Whitehorse in the coming months, but have found no such press releases on the internet.

Any new provider would still have to deal with Bell's evil infrastructure costs, so I don't know how much better things would get. Someone has to do some government lobbying done to break this monopoly and encourage other companies...
